Eric is an explorer of the human condition. Born a seeker, his love for diversity and depth was nurtured in his early years at a unique nursery, where normal was diverse. However, a shift to a 'normal' kindergarten felt alien to him, launching him on a journey of self-discovery that would span years.
A second-generation martial arts and Tai Chi student, Eric was deeply impacted by the death of his beloved teacher at 16 years old. One evening, while walking on a clear night sky, he experienced that oceanic sense of feeling at one with the universe. This moment, while profound, would take years to truly assimilate.
This prompted him to look beyond his routine, and he sought to make a difference during the AIDS crisis in New York. Initially volunteering at the Manhattan Center for Living, with Marianne Williamson.Ā He quickly rose to the role of assistant clinical director. However, he felt the need for formal education.
His thirst for knowledge led him to pastoral counseling and the New York Institute of Gestalt Therapy. He found a home among the eclectic group of scholars and therapists, blending Eastern perspectives with Gestalt Therapy theory. His dedication to learning and exploring different therapeutic schools and modalities has led him to work with some of the most renowned therapeutic minds of our time.
As Ericās private practice grew, he noticed a shift in societal norms. More and more people were struggling with relationship issues, prompting him to focus his practice on this area. The advent of the digital age brought its own challenges to relationships, affecting not just his clients but his own life as well.
To continue his work legally after changes in New York State laws, Eric returned to school. His experiences at the University of Pennsylvania helped him overcome previous school anxiety and inspired him to pursue a Ph.D. in human sexuality at the California Institute of Integral Studies.
His research initially focused on the love lives of gay men, but it expanded to include the socialization of men in our culture. Eric strives to make therapy more men-friendly, tackling biases and providing a supportive space for men to express their feelings without judgment.
Through personal losses and challenges, Eric has discovered the unchanging essence of life, a realization that continues to shape his practice. Today, his work ā or as he prefers, his sacred encounters with his clients ā focuses on helping people discover their true nature of being and find ways to reduce their suffering in relative reality.
