Therapeutic Style & Approach

Joey approaches therapy through a person-centered, trauma-informed lens, integrating considerations of attachment and relational dynamics.

Your work together will explore the current issues you are facing and what you hope to get out of your theraputic journey.

Often the focus will be on your present feelings and reactions, making room for buried emotions and unrecognized pain to be felt and processed, fostering change and healing.

Joey firmly believes in the inherent power within each of us to heal and transform.

Every phase of life, with its challenges and triumphs, deserves care, understanding, and the pursuit of happiness. In your collaboration with Joey you will navigate your life’s tribulations together, transforming suffering into growth, and fostering a sense of ease and joy in your life's journey.

Training & Background

Starting his clinical mental health career working in community health clinics, Joey gained experience working with people suffering from anxiety, depression, substance misuse, and other serious mental illnesses.

Since establishing work in private practice, Joey has had the opportunity of working more with Asian American clients and the LGBTQIA community, addressing issues related to immigrant family dynamics, gender and sexual identities, and life transition.

Joey encourages you to bring your authentic self to our sessions. Joey is committed to continuous improvement of his clinical skills through ongoing training and growth, including Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, peer supervision, and one-on-one supervision.

"We can all encounter difficult seasons and experiences that may leave us feeling adrift."

"However, it's how we choose to navigate these phases that truly shapes us. It's my belief that we shouldn't simply endure these times in silent desperation or bear these burdens alone."

In this winding journey of life, you do not have to walk alone. Let's traverse these rivers together.
